about us

what do you actually do?
we basically earn a living doing any or all of these five things:
- we license albums of music to other record companies, so they can release it on their labels.
- we license music to film, and tv production companies and producers, either directly, or through agents.
- we sell our music catalogue as a digital label on download services, like itunes and emusic.
- we publish and represent other people's music, and exploit our whole catalogue.
- we write music on commission for film, tv, games, dvd, web and mobile/cell.

how did you end up doing all that?
really free music started trading proper in the nineties. small studio production and composition work eventually led on to more complex business issues of licensing and publishing.

then we also started creating and developing multimedia (cdroms, websites, dvd etc) and this became really free solutions.

really free music is now a subsidiary of really free solutions ltd.

it all sounds great....., is it?
yes and no. sometimes it's fantastic. other times it's extremely difficult. the industry is always changing and we have to stay flexible. we're realistic about who we are, and, if you're a client, you'll find us pretty down-to-earth to deal with - straight forward, communicative and friendly.

are you....?
yes, we're writer & publisher members of:
mcps - www.mcps.co.uk
prs - www.prs.co.uk

ppl - www.ppluk.com

how did you know I was...?
intuition

anything else you think I should know?
yes - we like red wine.

we're not famous, and never were. we don't want to be super-rich - we just want to earn an enjoyable living and teach our kids what's important in life.

we've worked for majors, we've worked for tiny indies, we've played with the odd star in great venues, we would like to play more golf, and we often decide to take the day off just because we can....

can I go home now?
no

pete is founder and creator of really free music. he's partial to black olives and is also, believe it or not, a qualified garden designer (which is no help at all in the music industry). he is often prone to making exaggerated claims about how he has worked as a pianist and session musician, and how he has appeared on, or produced, something over 350 albums over the years. he probably won't tell you though that most of those were 'Best of Pan Pipes', or 'The World's Greatest Military Bands'. lol.

believe it or not, he has also done some credible and impressive work in the secular and christian music industry, otherwise he wouldn't be working in it. But, hey, no one likes a big head and, besides, it's much more fun talking about all the naff stuff we've all had to do from time to time isn't it....? email

ali is scared witless of frogs and this apparently often prevents her from doing much work after the sun has gone down. she likes garlic, drambuie and a bit of cuban salsa now and again.

she makes a habit of spilling red wine, and also dropping puddings (which is not a metaphor, we might add).

however,
she is something of an expert in aesthetics, and generally knows a great graphic from a bad one. having shunned both the london college of fashion and the chance to be a bbc weather girl, she looks after really free solutions, designs rich multimedia, and administrates music licensing and publishing if there are no frogs involved.

we think dave is actually a robot with a zillion megabytes of technical expertise. he is permanently on hand to sort out even the biggest binary mess generated by the music business.

he likes to beat pete at golf, and can down a mushroom stroganoff in about two and a half minutes flat.

we won't go into dave's musical tastes here but he is, needless to say, in need of some guidance. but then hey, we all have a few skeleton's in the cupboard....

dave is also free and single, so if you like the look of him why not send him an email and ask him out on a hot date....? update - cancel that - it's all happening.... ali has rushed out to buy a new hat!
